The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra is one of the most sacred and spiritually significant pilgrimages for devotees of Lord Shiva. Located in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, Mount Kailash is believed to be the divine abode of Lord Shiva, while Lake Manasarovar is considered the purest lake in the world. Pilgrims undertake this journey to seek blessings, spiritual purification, and inner peace. The yatra usually begins from Lucknow, followed by travel to Nepalgunj, Simikot, and Hilsa via road, flight, and helicopter, before entering Tibet and reaching Burang.
The main highlight of the yatra is the holy visit to Manasarovar Lake, where pilgrims perform pooja, meditation, and take a sacred bath, which is believed to cleanse sins and bring spiritual liberation. Another important part is the Kailash Parikrama (Kora), a 3-day trek around Mount Kailash covering approximately 42 km. This trek passes through Yamdwar, Dirapuk, Dolma-La Pass (5,630 meters), and Zutulpuk, offering breathtaking views and a deeply spiritual experience. Despite the physical challenges due to high altitude and terrain, devotes complete the yatra with strong faith and devotion.
Overall, the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra is not just a physical journey but a life-changing spiritual experience. It offers devotees an opportunity to connect with divine energy, experience natural beauty, and attain mental peace. The journey concludes with return to Nepalgunj and Lucknow, leaving pilgrims with unforgettable memories and spiritual fulfilment.
